Results emphasize the involvement of mitochondrial alkaline/neutral invertase isoforms, A/N-InvC and A/N-InvA, in developmental processes playing different roles. Knockout mutants for InvC reveal shoot growth to be severely reduced, but root development was not affected as reported for A/N-InvA mutant. A/N-InvC may be modulating hormone balance in relation to the radicle emergence. [A/N-InvC]
