GeneRIFs: Gene References Into Functions What's a GeneRIF?
Data suggest that promoters of most genes involved in biogenesis, function, and regulation of peroxisomes contain msn2- and msn4-binding sites; msn2 exhibits increased occupancy on promoters of beta-oxidation genes in glucose-depleted conditions; thus, msn2 and msn4 transcription factors activate expression of genes involved in fatty acid oxidation.
Title: The stress-regulatory transcription factors Msn2 and Msn4 regulate fatty acid oxidation in budding yeast.
Study demonstrate that Rpa12p interacts with the transcription factor Msn4p and prevents its binding to the promoter of AYR1, a key enzyme involved in triacylglycerol biosynthesis and mobilization of nonpolar lipids. These results suggest that the deletion of RPA12 derepresses Msn4p, thus activating the transcription of AYR1, which leads to the accumulation of triacylglycerol in the rpa12D mutant.
Title: The RNA polymerase I subunit Rpa12p interacts with the stress-responsive transcription factor Msn4p to regulate lipid metabolism in budding yeast.
Target genes of Msn2 and Msn4 with fast activation kinetics can be fully induced by either factor, behaving as an 'OR' gate. In contrast, target genes with slow activation kinetics behave as an 'AND' gate, requiring distinct contributions from both factors, upon transient stimulation.
Title: Dynamic control of gene regulatory logic by seemingly redundant transcription factors.
Cdc55 phosphatase is not involved in cytosolic stress signal perception but is involved in a specific intranuclear mechanism to regulate Msn2 and Msn4 nuclear accumulation and chromatin association under stress conditions.
Title: Yeast protein phosphatase 2A-Cdc55 regulates the transcriptional response to hyperosmolarity stress by regulating Msn2 and Msn4 chromatin recruitment.
suppression of Msn2/Msn4 activity in the absence of stress is achieved by several independent control mechanisms, including Msn2/Msn4 phosphorylation and proteosome degradation
Title: Fine-tuning of the Msn2/4-mediated yeast stress responses as revealed by systematic deletion of Msn2/4 partners.
The following MSN4 gene cDNA ORF clone sequences were retrieved from the NCBI Reference Sequence Database (RefSeq). These sequences represent the protein coding region of the MSN4 cDNA ORF which is encoded by the open reading frame (ORF) sequence. ORF sequences can be delivered in our standard vector, pcDNA3.1+/C-(K)DYK or the vector of your choice as an expression/transfection-ready ORF clone. Not the clone you want?
