Data suggest that NUA scaffolds AtMAD1 and AtMAD2 at the nuclear pore to form a functional complex and that both NUA and AtMAD2 suppress premature exit from cell division at the Arabidopsis root meristem.

These data indicate that NUA is a component of nuclear pore-associated steps of sumoylation and mRNA export in plants and that defects in these processes affect the signaling events of flowering time regulation and additional developmental processes.[NUA]
