Upon amino acid deprivation, Iml1 transiently interacts with Gtr1 at the vacuolar membrane stimulating its intrinsic GTPase activity, thus decreasing the activity of TORC1.

Iml1p contains a conserved domain that is required for non-nitrogen starvation-induced autophagy as well as complex formation
