GeneRIFs: Gene References Into Functions What's a GeneRIF?
we show that removal of either of two critical P-granule components, PGL-1 or GLH-1, is sufficient to cause germ cells to express UNC-119::GFP and MYO-3 and to display RNA accumulation defects similar to those observed after depletion of P granules. Our data identify P granules as critical modulators of the germline transcriptome and guardians of germ cell fate.
Title: Germ Granules Prevent Accumulation of Somatic Transcripts in the Adult
PGL-1 and PGL-3 control germline apoptosis in C. elegans.
Title: Loss of PGL-1 and PGL-3, members of a family of constitutive germ-granule components, promotes germline apoptosis in C. elegans.
we demonstrated that mutations in C. elegans epg-11 cause the defective removal of PGL-1 and PGL-3 (cargo)-SEPA-1 (receptor) complexes, known as PGL granules, from somatic cells during embryogenesis
Title: Arginine methylation modulates autophagic degradation of PGL granules in C. elegans.
findings show FBF-1 and FBF-2 have different effects on target mRNAs; FBF-2 prevents translation; FBF-2 activity depends on PGL-1; PGL-1 is required to localize FBF-2 to perinuclear P granules and for efficient binding of FBF-2 to its mRNA targets
Title: The P granule component PGL-1 promotes the localization and silencing activity of the PUF protein FBF-2 in germline stem cells.
Data show that GLH-1 and its FG domain are not sufficient to form granules, but require factors like PGL-1 to nucleate the localized concentration of GLH proteins.
Title: P granules extend the nuclear pore complex environment in the C. elegans germ line.
The following pgl-1 gene cDNA ORF clone sequences were retrieved from the NCBI Reference Sequence Database (RefSeq). These sequences represent the protein coding region of the pgl-1 cDNA ORF which is encoded by the open reading frame (ORF) sequence. ORF sequences can be delivered in our standard vector, pcDNA3.1+/C-(K)DYK or the vector of your choice as an expression/transfection-ready ORF clone. Not the clone you want?
