Staphylococcal Protein A binds strongly and specifically to the Fc region of immunoglobulin molecules, particularly IgG. The product contains five high-affinity binding sites capable of interacting with the Fc region of IgG in humans, rabbits, pigs, and other species. Biotin-Protein A, which is produced by covalently linking biotin to protein A, can be used in immunodetections, such as immunoblotting (western or dot blot), ELISA, and immunohistochemistry.

Overview
Product Description Staphylococcal Protein A binds strongly and specifically to the Fc region of immunoglobulin molecules, particularly IgG. The product contains five high-affinity binding sites capable of interacting with the Fc region of IgG in humans, rabbits, pigs, and other species. Biotin-Protein A, which is produced by covalently linking biotin to protein A, can be used in immunodetections, such as immunoblotting (western or dot blot), ELISA, and immunohistochemistry.

Properties
Formulation Liquid, 2 mg/ml in PBS (pH 7.4) containing 10 mg/ml BSA and 0.02% sodium azide.
Storage The reagent can be stored at 4°C for short-term use, up to one month. For longer storage, aliquot and store at -20°C, where it will remain stable for at least 1 year from the date of receipt. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. If slight precipitation occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use.

Applications
Working concentrations for specific applications should be determined by titration assay. The chart below may serve as a useful guideline, but primary antibody, temperature, incubation time, the amount of antigen, and the sensitivity of the detection methods can all affect the ideal working concentration.
