GeneRIFs: Gene References Into Functions What's a GeneRIF?
Data suggest that SNF1 deletion acts synergistically with YAP5 deletion to regulate transcription of vacuolar iron importer CCC1 and to regulate iron resistance; SNF1 deletion with MSN2/MSN4 deletion results in additive effects on CCC1 transcription. (SNF1 = sucrose non-fermenting kinase 1; YAP5 = transcription factor YAP5; CCC1 = Ca(II)-sensitive cross-complementer 1; MSN = stress-responsive transcriptional activator)
Title: The glucose sensor Snf1 and the transcription factors Msn2 and Msn4 regulate transcription of the vacuolar iron importer gene
The authors demonstrate that to permit long-term survival in response to sudden glucose depletion, yeast cells activate lipid-droplet (LD) consumption through micro-lipophagy (micro-lipophagy), in which fat is metabolized as an alternative energy source. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation triggered this pathway, which required Atg14p.
Title: AMPK and vacuole-associated Atg14p orchestrate ?-lipophagy for energy production and long-term survival under glucose starvation.
Yeast have developed two distinct pathways for down-regulating Snf1 activity. The first is through direct dephosphorylation of the conserved activation loop threonine. The second is through phosphorylation of serine 214.
Title: Activation and inhibition of Snf1 kinase activity by phosphorylation within the activation loop.
demonstrated the interaction of Rod1 with Hxt6 and showed that the localization of the Rod1-Hxt6 complex at the plasma membrane is affected by carbon source and is reduced upon overexpression of SNF1 and BMH2
Title: Regulation of the Yeast Hxt6 Hexose Transporter by the Rod1 ?-Arrestin, the Snf1 Protein Kinase, and the Bmh2 14-3-3 Protein.
The characteristics of SNF1 complex subunits, and the structure and regulation of the activity of the SNF1 complex has been presented. (Review)

The following SNF1 gene cDNA ORF clone sequences were retrieved from the NCBI Reference Sequence Database (RefSeq). These sequences represent the protein coding region of the SNF1 cDNA ORF which is encoded by the open reading frame (ORF) sequence. ORF sequences can be delivered in our standard vector, pcDNA3.1+/C-(K)DYK or the vector of your choice as an expression/transfection-ready ORF clone. Not the clone you want?
