Data show that DEAD-box RNA helicase, CGH-1/DDX6, as a key casein kinase II (CK2) substrate and phosphorylation of a conserved N-terminal serine is required for CGH-1 function in the microRNA (miRNA) pathway.

kin-10, which encodes the beta subunit of protein kinase CK2, is a novel factor regulating stem cell proliferation in the C. elegans germ line.
