Nsi1 binding to a stretch of 11 nucleotides blocks Pol I-dependent RNA synthesis.
Title: Binding of the termination factor Nsi1 to its cognate DNA site is sufficient to terminate RNA polymerase I transcription in vitro and to induce termination in vivo.
The findings suggest that Nsi1 is a new rDNA silencing factor that contributes to rDNA stability and lifespan extension in S. cerevisiae.
